Dr. Stefano Ghirardello was born in Milan on the 9 of April 1972.
In 1998 he obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Università degli Studi di Pavia, Italy, and a residency in Pediatrics in 2005. After one year of work at the Robert Debrè Hospital in Paris in the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, in 2006, he became a consultant as a neonatologist at the Department of ClinicalSciences and Community Health, Policlinico Ospedale Maggiore of Milan. Here he oriented hisinterests in neonatal transfusion medicine and the coagulation system of the newborns, supervising the neonatal policies of blood product transfusion in the intensive care unit. From 2012 to the present, Dr. Ghirardello has been a professor at the Advanced Course in Neonatal Intensive Care of the Department of Clinical Sciences and Community Health, University of Milan. Furthermore, from 2016 to 2019, he was the chief of the Steering Committee of the Neonatal Immuno-Hematology Study Group of the Italian Society of Neonatology. He obtained Doctor's degree (PhD) in 2021 at the Faculty of Health, medicine and Life Sciences of Maastricht University with the thesis "Evaluation of hemostasis in the newborn". He has about 60 peer-reviewed publications. From 2021, he is the Director of the intensive care unit at Fondazione IRCC Policlinico San Matteo of Pavia.

Thijs de Vos is a clinical researcher associated at both the Fetal Therapy Team from Leiden University Medical Centre and the Department of Experimental Immunohematology at Sanquin Research. His PhD project focuses on the natural history of fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. Thijs de Vos graduated from Medical School at the Leiden University in 2015 and started working as a resident in pediatric departments. Since 2018 he started working as a PhD candidate, he expects to finish his PhD the coming year.

Dr. Genny Raffaeli is a neonatologist and clinical researcher at Fondazione IRCCS Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico, University of Milan in Italy. Passionate about neonatal care, her research field is neonatal critical care with a focus on pharmacologyand hematology. She has performed clinical research to evaluate the thromboelastographic profile of preterm infants over the first month of life, and she applied this hemostatic monitoring across different prematurity-related diseases. More recently she gained clinical and scientific experience also in the optimization of blood products for critically-ill newborns. She is an active member of the Italian Society of Neonatology (SIN) and European Society of Pediatric Research (ESPR).
